As result of a broken hot water pipe, these four antique oak side chairs have severe water damage.
Not only has the finish has been ruined, but the joints have become very loose, and the upholstered slip seats smell damp and moldy.

Restoration began by removing the seats and re-gluing the chair frames. The finish was stripped and sanded to remove the water damage.

A traditional stain was used for color, then finished in lacquer, and finally, rubbed and waxed.

This photo taken during delivery (Millbrook, NY) shows completed project with seats reupholstered and new leather.
